The centerpiece of Northern California, San Francisco is well-known for its urban hills, scenic coastline, summer fog and vibrant neighborhoods, each offering something special.

While the city is relatively accessible by foot (although the hills will leave you hurting) its more exciting to ride one of the public cable cars. Iconic landmarks include the Golden Gate Bridge, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Transamerica Pyramid, the Painted Ladies at Alamo Square Park, Golden Gate Park and Lombard Street (the crookedest street in America). As if that isn't enough, you can't go wrong wandering around Fisherman's Wharf, shopping in Union Square, and taking in the views at Twin Peaks.
